Job: Purchasing Agent
Full Time, Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing all supplier related activities for the commodities under their control.
A. Manage Supplier performance and create action plans to address those that under perform.
B. Develop and implement Purchasing strategies to provide a lean and agile Supply Chain, while optimizing inventory and stock turns.
C. Proactively improve Purchasing processes, supplier selection and development to support above.
D. Key provider of purchasing support and solutions within the department to all internal and external customers.
E. Ensure that all Purchasing transactions are conducted ethically and support the company’s values.
F. Attends meetings representing Purchasing as directed by Purchasing Manager.
G. Act as a visible role model to others within the department including guidance and mentoring other team members.
H. Assist with the preparation of tenders, analysis of bids and the award of contracts.
I. Continuously promote the role of purchasing both internally and externally.
J. Accurately maintain all Item Planning Data for Purchased items.
K. Provide information regarding availability of material and expedite where necessary.
L. Assist with creation, maintenance and improvement of procedures that are consistent with the company’s values.
M. Annually review standard costs and drive product costs down. Monitor Purchase Price Variance throughout the year.
N. Measure and report appropriate departmental Key Performance Indicators.
O. Support other members of the department as required.

A. AS Degree preferred, Minimum High school diploma/GED
B. 2-4 years’ experience in purchasing, logistics, or similar work
C. Experience with botanicals, vitamins, and minerals strongly preferred
D. Highly organized and detail oriented.
E. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Internet.
F. Ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
G. Requires a well-developed ability to read, write, and speak English in relation to topics of a complex or technical nature
H. Ability to review hard copy and identify issues, an example would be identifying missing elements or incorrect text
I. A legal right to work in the United States
J. Must pass a drug screen and a background check in accordance with HWP standards.
