Quality Control Technician-Raw Materials

Health Wright Products is a privately held Contract Manufacturer of Nutritional Supplements that is seeking a Quality Control Technician- Raw Materials who is a team player to join our expanding organization. Job: Quality Control Technician - Raw Materials

Shift: Days, Monday-Friday 7am-330pm (hours may vary - flexibility is essential)

Pay: DOE - Full time, Non-Exempt position

The main responsibility of this position is to sample and release incoming raw materials used within the dietary supplement manufacturing process following cGMP guidelines and established procedures.  Included in these responsibilities are the representative sampling of raw materials, the internal submission of raw material samples for analysis, and labeling of raw materials. This position works closely with the Material Handler, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Production.  Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.




                It is essential for all employees to adhere to Company policies.

A.   Per established procedures, sample, quarantine, and label approved raw materials used within the manufacturing process for dietary supplements.

       a.Sampling/labeling materials lifting/stacking up to and including 60 lbs. daily.

B.   Process raw materials for rejection per established procedures in a timely manner.

C.   Work closely with Quality Control and Quality Assurance to ensure proper sampling for all raw materials as per established sampling plans for raw materials.

D.   Submit raw material samples for internal and contract laboratory analysis in a timely manner.

E.   May act as a backup to QC Analyst I as needed.

F.   To support the QC Supervisor or QC Lead during the investigations for any non-conformances or customer complaints.

G.  Able to provide training and guidance as necessary.

H.  Maintain the organization of raw material sample room to adhere to GMPs sanitation and cleanliness

A.   A.S. degree in Food science, Biology, or Chemistry, preferred

B.   2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment within quality control, preferred

C.   Experience with FDA/cGMP compliance, preferred

D.   Experience with operating forklift, preferred

E.   Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

F.   Ability to work independently

G.  Ability to wear respirator equipment

H.  Requires a well-developed ability to read, write, and speak English in relation to topics of a complex or technical nature

A.  Standing/Walking: Often - Most assignments and work functions are performed while standing/walking through facility

B.  Sitting: Often – Assignments can be completed while either sitting or standing and only applies to certain work areas and/or work functions.

C.  Crouching (bending at knees): Occasionally – Crouching is necessary when lifting materials.

D.  Reaching: Continually – All positions require continual handling of small parts and various materials. Reaching is primarily performed between waist and shoulder level.  Some overhead reaching is required.

E.  Stooping (bend at waist): Rarely – May bend at waist while sampling raw material

F.  Kneeling:  Rarely – Kneels to retrieve materials from the floor.

G. Handling: Continually – Handles small components, powders, papers

H. Feeling/Grasping: To manipulate computer, handles various paperwork, files, etc.  Grasps writing instruments, adjust instruments used for analyses of materials, etc.

I.   Lifting/Carrying: Frequently – All tasks require lifting and carrying boxes or bins of materials/parts up to 30 feet.  A typical weight range is 10-30 pounds.  Stacks of boxes and bins may weigh as much as 60 pounds. 

J.  Seeing:  have 20/20 vision or 20/30 corrected vision.



A.  Works in a well-lit, air-conditioned office and warehouse environment. 

B.  Works in production environment with exposure to noise, cleaning agents including bleach, enzymes, mineral dust, and vitamin dust

C.  Consistently exposed to a production environment with a controlled temperature of 68-72 degrees and 30% humidity

D.  Must adhere to Company safety policies and wear the required personal protective equipment.

E.  Must be able to work while wearing a self contained breathing apparatus.



A.  Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
